This is a long story, but basically two local gas stations were selling an energy drink called “Cocaine”. Besides 3 1/2 times the caffeine of Red Bull (= 3 shots of espresso), its name bothers some of us. In particular, Chris, a father of 4 in Acton (MA) did not like it. It was available in two gas stations near his home. So he started a small email movement, simply by standing up to be counted, that resulted, in less than one week’s time, in the gas station’s corporate office pulling the products from stores nationwide!

I don’t understand why it was a bad idea for a drink. As long as there were no drugs in it, I don’t really see the negative in that.

Thanks
You don’t like the name of a drink so you get it removed from your local gas stations? Some of us like energy drinks, including Cocaine. I guess it wasn’t good enough for you to just not buy it.
Thanks for playing parent to the rest of us and taking away our adult right to make our own decisions.

just...wow.
So you didn’t like the name so you had it pulled. I absolutely have to point out that a much loved and well known beverage coca cola, also know as coke., hope that doesn’t offend you contained cocaine in its original recipe. Sure the recipe has changed, yet people still drink it. It amazes me that you thought of this energy drink as something you had to stand up against of all the terrible things going on around us, you chose this battle. What a shame.

You shaming him is what is shameful
Isn’t it funny that whenever someone stands up for what they believe in the free speakers shame him for hurting their rights. He had every right to complain about something he didn’t like for whatever reason he didn’t like it. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one who didn’t like it because he got enough people to send an email to corporate.
If you feel he did you wrong, go shop at a store that values your opinion. Instead, you demean free speech and his right to persuade a capitalist business. The people that should be ashamed are the ones always shaming those who stand up for what they beleive.
I thought it was a silly fight but its the one he chose-why people have to belittle him is what is really amazing.

I think that the name may give ...
I think that the name may give young kids the wrong idea of the real drug and think that it is ok to do real cocaine since the fake drink is ok too (although it isn’t).

It's dumb to get rid of another job
It’s dumb to get rid of another job for people, the people that make the energy drink that go to the store, had a job to do, now you made it a little bit harder. We all grew up with the energy drink cocaine, did you get the wrong idea? Did you start doing cocaine and getting all hocked up at night, no you didn’t. It’s just another lazy parent who wants to make his job easier instead of explaining that’s an energy drink, now don’t do the drug. Lazy parenting. Ken, how about the right: people can drink and eat whenever they want huh? Maybe I live in that town and I loved the drink cocaine, he just took away my right to drink it.

Cocaine drink removed - thank you
If the product is that great, then why put an illegal addictive harmful drug’s name on it? It must be an “image” thing. Why promote this drug as a positive and legal “energy” drink? Have you ever met a person with a drug addiction that is really happy that they are addicted? There is no positive affiliation here. I know a teenage guy who loves bragging about drinking this as he tutors struggling middle school students. Thanks for taking a stand!
