Discussion Guide for Transit
The following are questions that can be used in guiding a discussion about the film Transit.
1. Why do you think it was so easy for the Thief to do the wrong thing, but so difficult for the Witness to do the right thing?
2. Do you think if there was a second witness it would have been easier for the film’s Witness to act? Was his struggle greater because he was the only person with the burden of knowledge and therefore the only person with the power to rectify the situation?
3. As you watched the film, at what point did you see the enormity of the situation dawn on the Witness?
4. What do you think finally prompted the Witness to stand up and go over to the Thief?
5. Did you recognize yourself in the Witness’s indecision?
6. What do you think the Witness was about to say or do to the Thief as the film ended?
7. How could the Witness have acted differently at anytime in the scenario, from the crime to the ending?
8. What would you have done under the same circumstances?
9. What’s the lesson of the story?
