Discussion Guide for Dinner for Two

The following are questions that can be used in guiding a discussion about the film Dinner for Two.

1. Do the chameleons keep fighting over the bug because they’re both hungry, or because they both think they’re right?

2. How does it feel when someone refuses to share with you?

3. How does it help someone when you share?

4. As the chameleons continue to fight, all the creatures around them are affected in upsetting ways. How and why did that happen?

5. Have you ever been in a similar situation with a friend or family member, where you both thought you were right and neither would give up? What ultimately happened?

6. If people have been fighting and fighting for a long time, do you think it might be hard for them to stop? Why?

7. Do you think one of the other creatures should have tried to stop the fighting, or was it better to let the chameleons go on until they figured things out for themselves?

8. In fairness, the frog was probably entitled to eat the bug all by himself when he caught it. Why was his action of sharing with the two chameleons so important?

9. Can you think of any other way the chameleons could have settled their dispute and returned the rainforest to a peaceful place?

10. What’s the lesson of the story? Which characters do you think did the right thing in the story and why?
