How High Are Your Fences?
Perhaps things are different in different areas of the country. I reside in southwest Ohio. Most, if not all, of the planned neighborhoods I've been in have fences that are no more than about 4 feet high. I'm sure this is due to guidelines set in place by their HOA, as it is in my neighborhood. I can see everything in my neighbors' yards.

Plain Business Sense
As much as I hate "connection fees" and "universal data charges" and other vaguely-referenced billing items, they all add up to one thing - your bill. It could be at the company's discretion (based on goods/services provided) as to how far they break down the total of your bill. It comes down to cost of business v revenue. If a company's overhead goes up, they're gonna find a way to offset the additional cost. The easiest fix is usually an increase in the price to the consumer. How many of us would tell our children that if making and selling lemonade cost $0.40 a glass instead of $0.10 a glass because they decided to serve it in bio-degradable containers, they should still sell it for $0.25 and just eat the extra cost because it's the "moral" thing to do?

ARMs Are Barbaric?
I certainly agree with the statement that one's attentions should be to their native land before going elsewhere. And I agree that the fact that many of our citizens signed their names to loans with terms that they didn't understand and the repercussions of such is a sad thing. That being said, I find it in complete distaste to equivocate foreclosure on a mortgage and eviction from a house due to the inability to make the payments on an ARM to genocide. Maybe your fingers weren't getting your thoughts across and you were thinking about the mortgage crisis and more "barbaric" problems (e.g., homelessness, violence, hunger, illness with inadequate or no health care, etc.) in the country at the same time and the thoughts comingled in your comment. I hope so.
